04 19 26 update

Hello Linsford Families,

We enjoyed some fun learning activities for education week! Thank you to all who helped to organize these activities. We would also like to send out a special note of THANKS to all of our guest readers who joined us from the community. The students really enjoyed their time with them.

Our school received some VERY EXCITING and long awaited news from our parent fundraising group. A big grant that they had applied for was approved! This means we can move to next steps for planning the build for our new playground. This hardworking and dedicated group of parents truly deserve an extra special SHOUT OUT OF APPRECIATION for all of their extra efforts to fundraise for a new playground. It is a giant undertaking and we are truly grateful for all of their efforts. Thank you Carrie-Sam, Linnea, and Ali for all the extras you did to ensure this large grant application became a reality!

We look forward to further updates on the playground very soon!

Warmest Regards,

Mrs. Kloschinsky & Dr. Murtha-Toles

EDUCATION WEEK

Our students and staff had fun celebrating Education Week through a variety of activities. We were thrilled to have some community guest readers join us. Our students also participated in a curiousity jar activity in their classrooms and worked together to create a "unity quilt" which highlighted each student's self-identified superpower.

ASSEMBLY

What a fun assembly we had for education week. Miss Sydney (our FSL) joined us to co-share a book on Kindness at Linsford Park School that her and Mrs. K created together. This book also celebrates the many many many acts of kindness that have been "spotted" throughout our school. Our Grade 4 students also shared a wonderful reader's theatre about Kindness. Everyone loved the presentations!

KARMA CONCERT / MUSIC UPDATE

We have been so lucky to have been the recipient of a Karma Concert grant in the last year that allowed our school to purchase ukeleles for our music class. This year we also have had 3 students win coloring contests that have provided our school with additional funds for purchasing art supplies. Our last two students were just named last week and we will share photos in the next week and additional details of their win and Karma Concerts generosity. Mrs. Emmerzael was a featured speaker at the Karma Concerts annual event and she shared a heartwarming story about our school's music program. Mrs. Weiss and Mrs. Kloschinsky were on hand to receive a cheque on behalf of our school and contest winners.

THANK YOU

We would like to send out a BIG THANK YOU to Wilhauk Beef Jerky for sponsoring our school and providing our floor hockey teams with new jerseys that also sport an updated logo! The grade 5/6 boys floor hockey team were the first to wear them. They enjoyed sharing the moment with Adam who brought the boys a surprise beef jerky treat!

Thank You Wilhauk Beef Jerky

GR. 5/6 BOYS FLOOR HOCKEY

Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer for our team this past weekend at the Black Gold tournament at Corinthia Park. We had some exciting games/moments. It is always exciting to win a game or score some goals, but what is truly impressive is the team spirit and the sheer determination that our boys gave throughout the tournament. Congratulations to each one of you on representing our school so well!

SPECIAL THANKS once again to Logan Danilak for helping to coach our team with Mr. McDonald and Mrs. Kloschinsky!
