Hello Linsford Families,
Although it was a short week, it was filled with lots of exciting learning! We had special guests from BGSD to support numeracy, literacy, and Indigenous learning. You will be able to see some photos further down in this update.
An important note regarding the new playground: We have been informed that some children and families have been seen playing on the new equipment. Please be aware that this is still a construction zone and it is not safe. Although the area is fenced off and locked, a few individuals are still finding their way inside. Please help us by ensuring your children know to stay out until the fencing is removed. We also appreciate your help in spreading the word to neighbors or notifying us if you see anyone on the site. Thank you for your support!
Our photo retake day is on Thursday, October 22 this week from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Please be sure to add a reminder in your calendars.
Chocolate almonds are back! They are $5 per box and are sold from the office. The proceeds from the chocolate almond sales benefit our school and students. Thank you in advance for your support!
Gentle Reminder: Verification Forms! We have about 20 verification forms to go! Please help us cross the finish line and finish this task. All students in the Black Gold School Division must have a completed form on file. **Verification Forms are available on your PowerSchool Portal. If you require assistance, please call the office.
Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Kloschinsky & Dr. Murtha-Toles

LEARNING AT LPS
Our students enjoyed some fantastic learning adventures this week with special guest teachers from BGSD:
- Mr. Swampy (Indigenous Curriculum Lead): Taught new games in PEW class and shared insights into Nehiyaw culture to help prepare students for upcoming lessons on treaties.
- Mrs. Reed (Literacy Coach): Brought reading to life with engaging activities, including a wonderful reader's theatre story in 3A.
- Ms. McRae (Numeracy Coach): Visited multiple classrooms to introduce fun new math games that support our numeracy goals.
COOKING UP A STORY
We are excited to work with our MHCB (Mental Health Capacity Building) coach, Miss Jenna, to offer a super fun family event called "Cooking Up a Story".
This is a special event where we provide the groceries and recipe for your family to cook supper together with us over a zoom meeting. While our suppers are cooking, we all get to share some of our favourite stories. We love when students offer to read a few pages form their favourite book as part of the experience.
Please consider joining us on November 4th. Supplies will be ready for pick up at the end of the school day and we will cook our suppers together from 5:30 - 6:30 pm.
You can register your family for the event at THIS LINK. It is available for the first 25 families and is completely free.
HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
Reminder about Halloween costumes: please keep them child friendly. We have many PreK and other primary students who frighten easily. Thank you in advance for helping us to keep this day friendly for all.
PLAYGROUND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE!
We are getting so close! A massive THANK YOU to all the students who worked with Mrs. K to help spread the rest of the woodchips this past week. We are also incredibly grateful to the Doherty family, Lacy Fontaine, Miss Sydney, Miss Opdendries, and Miss Archie for tackling the last big pile on Friday after school. A special shoutout to the three determined folks who raced the sunset to ensure the job was finally complete!
Our final parts have arrived, and a crew was hard at work over the weekend. Now, we are just waiting on concrete, final site clean-up, and the official inspection. Stay tuned for more updates and our official grand opening date!
