  • No passing when school bus red lights are flashing!

Posted on    Posted in General, Safety, Transportation

Did you know? The activated overhead red lights flashing on a school bus means only one thing – the bus is loading or unloading children!

As motorists, we must drive with extra care when approaching a school bus. When a school bus has stopped and the red lights are flashing, vehicle traffic from both directions MUST come to a COMPLETE STOP until the lights are deactivated.

Passing the school bus when children are embarking/disembarking the bus is dangerous, illegal, and can have deadly consequences.

Parents/guardians, please remind your children to be extra careful when getting on or off the school bus. Teach them to always obey the driver’s directions, and to watch out for traffic approaching the bus from either direction BEFORE crossing the road.
